Reasons for visiting a goldsmith
As a goldsmith I am a craftsman with a high expertise and creativity constantly dealing with artistic and aesthetic aspects. Being an autonomous businessman it is my aim to absolutely satisfy my customers. I can hardly think of any other artistic profession where it is possible to react so individually to the customers suggestions, wishes and requirements. In comparison to industrially produced jewellery which needs to be brought on the market using a great deal of advertising, the jewellery of a goldsmith will always be something very special, very personal and unique. To the question of pricing: compared to industrially produced pieces the goldsmiths do not need to fear any price comparisons. Our jewellery is always absolutely worth its money.
My work shows 3 structured aspects:
Alteration and repairs: Some old pieces of jewellery are often of high emotional value. This value can be much higher than the actual price of this piece. If such an object gets ruined the felt loss can be tremendous. It is my concern to repair your broken piece of jewellery in the best possible way. Only pieces which are also actually worn deserve to be named jewellery. It can also make sense to redesign or alter an older piece of jewellery in such a way that it suits you better, and you will then want to wear it again. To be able to do such alterations a goldsmith needs a great deal of intuition as well as know how.
New pieces: You would like to possess a very personal piece of jewellery. Well, you may join me on a very exciting path. You talk to me about your ideas, I listen and make drawings, and in the end we will create a precise piece of jewellery originating from your ideas. A multitude of samples of metal, stone, wood, bones etc. will help you to choose your favourite material. As a result of our combined work I will draw a precise draft and possibly even make a model. I will of course also provide a binding estimate of the costs. You will find out that such a personal and unique object must not necessarily be more expensive than a comparable mass-produced piece from a shop window. If you feel the desire to follow and accompany the development of your personal piece of jewellery you are always very welcome to visit my studio at regular intervals. In the end your very own idea will have become a three-dimensional reality, and you will be the proud owner of a unique and very individual piece of jewellery.
Own creations: Beside the very valuable work for my customers I often feel the big urge to create jewellery according to my own ideas. For this type of work I usually choose a theme. I then very intensively look into this subject over a long period of time.
Examples of such ideas:
The purpose of looking into such subjects could be:
The result of such experiences are always a series of very special pieces. I normally finish such a phase with an exhibition where I present these new ideas to a limited audience.
I am very much looking forward to your visit.
